Alpha Precision Systems Inc. (APS) and VON ARDENNE GmbH are joining forces to include VON ARDENNE’s equipment portfolio to offer integrated turnkey production lines for perovskite photovoltaic manufacturing. The collaboration combines APS’s expertise in solution-based processing, slot-die coating, drying and overall line integration with VON ARDENNE’s extensive experience in vacuum deposition technologies and industrial-scale coating systems.

APS has been developing equipment and integrated manufacturing solutions for perovskite solar cells and modules, with platforms ranging from R&D and pilot-scale systems to larger production lines. Its portfolio covers key manufacturing processes including cleaning, laser processing, slot-die coating, vacuum drying, thermal processing, vacuum deposition, ALD, encapsulation, testing and line automation.

VON ARDENNE brings extensive experience in vacuum coating technologies, including sputtering and evaporation, as well as the engineering and scale-up of vacuum coating systems from R&D to industrial production. Over the past few years, the company has established a strong footprint, especially in European R&D facilities, and is actively supporting perovskite photovoltaic development.

First project in the USA with delivery in 2027

APS’ first project in the United States to include VON ARDENNE’s vacuum deposition systems is a 300 x 300 mm pilot line, with delivery planned for 2027. The line will provide a platform for perovskite process development, device optimization and manufacturing scale-up, integrating solution-based and vacuum-based deposition processes within a coordinated production concept.

The companies expect the collaboration to support future projects at different production scales, aiming to provide perovskite manufacturers and developers with a more integrated path from process development to pilot production and, ultimately, industrial-scale manufacturing.

Depending on the customer’s device architecture, process flow, substrate format and required throughput, APS can configure turnkey solutions combining wet coating, drying and thermal processing with vacuum deposition and other key process technologies.
